The Lodge has maximum capacity for 28 people, across two 8-bed dormitories, two 2-bed bedrooms, 2 single bedrooms, all at ground level, and a 6-bed upstairs loft.
- Glencree, at 3.2km, is the nearest village to GWL. Coffee/lunches can be got in the Armoury Café there. Opening times on their website. There are no other shops in Glencree.
- Enniskerry, at 6.5km, is the nearest village with shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs.
The nearest filling station is on the Monastery Road just outside Enniskerry, and is 7.8km from GWL. The station also has a shop where provisions can be bought.

Blankets, sleeping bags and pillows are not provided. Each bunk has a mattress with a fireproof mattress protector. Persons using the Lodge must bring their own sleeping gear.
Sea swimming is possible in Bray which is 12.8km from GWL. There is also a 25-metre indoor swimming pool located at the Shoreline Leisure Centre in Bray, 11.2km from GWL.
